17 Tips For Faster Shopping – Getting Out of the Store ASAP!
Preparation Before You Leave Home
1. Use a shopping list. A fast fill-in trip should also have a list. Depending on your memory slows the shopping and without a list you can count on forgetting an item or two.
2. Arrange your shopping list by the supermarket’s aisles
3. Make it easier for the cashier to credit your coupons: Clip them neatly. Circle or high-light the expiration dates
4. Arrange the coupons you intend to use in the same order as you usually shop the supermarket’s aisles
5. If you plan to shop at the deli department, call ahead and place your deli order
6. Make plans for having someone watch the children while you shop! In the next chapter you will learn why I strongly recommend not shopping with young children.
7. Checking out is sometimes faster if you shop early in the morning or late at night (but remember not too late!). Try it!
8. If you can divide your shopping list so each half can be checked out in the express lane, shop with your partner and use two carts
Preparation In The Aisles:
9. Make sure your loose produce, such as apples, have product identification stickers
10. Carefully examine each item before you put it into your cart
11. Load the cart in the order in which you will put the items on the conveyor belt
Preparation While Waiting in Line:
12. If you pay by check, fill it out while waiting in line, leaving just the amount to quickly fill in when the order is totaled.
13. Have your cash, club card or credit card ready
14. Make sure the coupons you will hand the cashier are for the items in your cart
At the Checkout Counter:
15. Place your items on the conveyor belt with the bar codes facing the cashier
16. Hand the coupons to the cashier before she starts scanning
17. And, finally, before bagging begins, give the bagger any necessary instructions
